Qing-Yang Xiao (Shout) is Taiwan’s most acclaimed album cover designer, with more than 1000 projects and 7 Grammy Nominations, including a win for “Beginningless Beginning” in 2023, to show for it.
Xiao has also created book covers, product design, and art installations. His style is distinctively Taiwanese, drawing from it’s varied natural environment, its people, and their distinctive cultures, both indigenous and Mandarin.
Clear Light is proud to be a collaborator with Shout over the past 15 years, including this year’s Grammy award-winning design. Going forward, we are taking a more active role in promoting his work in the US.

“What I notice about Shout is his closeness to the land and the culture of its inhabitants, and his spontaneity and playfulness in expressing that sentiment. I’ve gotten used to unannounced 1 hour drives from Taipei to a seaside cafe when it’s stormy or searching for the quintessential NY Hamburger.
In typical fashion, Shout recently camped in the Nevada dessert to participate in Burning Man. These influences bleed through again and again in his work.”
